LUTHERAN FLOOD APPEAL

Lutheran Social Services and Lutheran Disaster Relief are noted not only for their diligent care and support in emergency situations, but also for their commitment for the long haul to be with those who have experienced devastation.  Long after other relief agencies have moved on, LSS and LDR continue to rebuild lives and communities.  The 2007 flood in the LaCrosse area is one such disaster that still has significant need, but which no longer receives attention.  LDR assists with debris pickup, crisis and long-term counseling, respite care for clergy and their families, case management, and reconstruction.   Donations are needed to help address unmet needs in a 14 county area that spans LaCrosse to Kenosha.  If your congregation is moved to assist with a need which receives little or no publicity, make gifts to "Lutheran Flood Appeal" and send them to Lutheran Flood Appeal, LSS of WI and UP, Box 88738, Milwaukee, WI 53288-0738.  Thank you!

CENTRAL LUTHERAN GROUP IN MALAWI
Diane Kaufmann and 16 others based out of Central Lutheran in Chippewa Falls are traveling to Malawi on an eyeglass mission trip. The group will return May 2. With over 10,000 pairs of eyeglasses and medical supplies, they plan to set up temporary eyeglass clinics in seven locations throughout Malawi to treat people in need. Click here for regular upates from the travelers and keep them and those they serve in your prayers.

ENDOWMENT SUPPORT

The average new pastor completes seminary with an education debt of $41,000.  Because of compensation levels as a first call pastor, many find it difficult to service their education debt and support a family.  That's why we've established the "First Call Debt Endowment Fund."  62 persons have already enrolled in Simply Giving at a minimum level of $10/month to provide ongoing support.  Would you consider becoming one of those supporters?  Or, make a gift and send it to the synod office.  Thank you!

JOURNEY TO WELLNESS UPDATE

The numbers are in--as of March 31, we are at 65.7%. That means we need 26 more people to complete the HRA before we can all begin to realize the savings associated with reaching the 75% goal. If you haven't begun to benefit from this program yet, take a few moments to complete the HRA today and join your colleagues on the Journey to Wellness.
